What You Will Gain

You will gain hands on experience within the captive wildlife area (Australian wildlife and exotic animals). Assist with food preparation, animal husbandry, animal care and furnishing enclosures to create a natural environment etc. for our wildlife. Listen and be present at interpretive talks, animal encounters, personalised guided tours and school group educational tours. We have over 150 different species here at Wings Wildlife Park and the largest collection of Tasmanian wildlife in the world.

Time Frame

Our volunteer program normally runs for 6 weeks. Starting and finishing times are from 8:00am to 4:30pm with a half hour lunch. Volunteers can nominate 5 days per week for volunteering (Monday to Sunday) allowing 2 days for recreational activities.

If volunteering is part of study placement and you require a block period, we can also accommodate those requests and are open to negotiations. International students can select a block period with a minimum of 1 week. Previous international volunteers volunteered Monday to Friday and have had Saturday and Sunday off to explore the region and what it has to offer.

Accommodation

Onsite discounted accommodation is available for interstate and international students, as well as local volunteers that do not reside within a reasonable travelling distance to the wildlife park. Transport to and from the airport needs to be arranged by the volunteers themselves, however we can pass on some suggested transport options. Rates can be discussed once applications have been assessed.
